The Latina/o Bar Association of Washington (LBAW) is committed to helping diversify the legal profession and increase the number of Latino lawyers serving our community by supporting our current and future Latina/o law students. One of the ways we effectuate that commitment is through financial awards to exceptional members of our community pursuing a legal career.
Historically, LBAW awards scholarships to law students from each of the following law schools annually: Gonzaga University School of Law, University of Idaho College of law, Seattle University School of Law, and University of Washington School of Law.
This year, LBAW is proud to announce that our scholarship awards have expanded to include a select number of LSAT scholarship awards to go toward preparation costs associated with taking the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). The legal profession has many barriers to entry - cost and the LSAT are two of the most significant. Higher LSAT scores lead to greater scholarship packages from law schools and further improves the feasibility of attending and graduating from law school. It is LBAW’s hope that these LSAT scholarship awards reduce some of those barriers for the awardees.
Additional details for these awards can be found in the application materials annually.
Scholarship Awards
The scholarship amounts may differ year to year, but generally the Law Student Scholarship awards range from $1,500 to $3,000, the LSAT Scholarship awards range up to $1,500, and the High School Student Scholarship awards range up to $1,500, as determined annually by the scholarship committee depending on the number of scholarships awarded and resources available.
