Job Description: Judge Dimke seeks a law clerk for a 2-year term beginning in September of 2024. The term law clerk will be stationed in the Richland, Washington courthouse, with occasional travel to the Spokane and Yakima courthouses. The term law clerk will assist on civil and criminal cases, which requires reviewing the record and pleadings; performing legal research on a wide array of issues; preparing bench memoranda in advance of hearings; drafting orders and opinions; attending court proceedings; and performing case management as necessary through the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system. The term clerk will also perform other duties as necessary such as assisting with a drug re-entry court, assisting with preparing for presentations for CLEs/events, supervising interns/externs. For this particular position, Judge Dimke is seeking candidates that have some post-law school civil practice experience and/or prior clerkship experience. Specific ties to or interest in Washington State or the Pacific Northwest should be stated in the applicant’s cover letter. Judge Dimke prefers writing samples that demonstrate substantive legal analysis.
