This position may be eligible for hybrid working; a combination of telework and working in-office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides support to MJC and its committees, including: coordinating projects, conducting research, preparing agendas and meeting materials, participating in meetings, and preparing and distributing minutes.

  • Maintains information on MJC’s public-facing website and responds to public inquiries for assistance.

  • Assists MJC senior staff in managing and coordinating MJC programs to advance research, policy, and educational objectives.

  • Gathers information, prepares memoranda and presentation/training materials. Supports the publication of original reports and publications.

  • Assists with monitoring legislation related to racial equity in the state court system during legislative session.

  • Supports implementation of branch-wide jury diversity efforts, including gathering information, coordinating meetings among stakeholders and assisting the Jury and Community Researcher.

  • Coordinates with AOC’s Court Education Unit staff and outside subject-matter expert trainers to execute MJC judicial education programs.

  • Promotes MJC resources through the website, mass correspondence, and stakeholder outreach.

  • Responds to requests for MJC posters and publications.

  • Makes logistical arrangements for in-person MJC programs, including booking venue and catering, coordinating travel arrangements and securing necessary technological capabilities and resources.

  • Arranges for and monitors billings, fees, travel expenses, and other financial transactions related to conferences, meetings, and programs.

  • Tracks MJC budget expenditure activity and produces reports for the MJC.

  • Develops internal processes to allow for maximum effectiveness and efficiency of program implementation.

  • Monitors compliance with internal AOC policies, standards, and guidelines.

  • Keeps appropriate senior staff and Commission co-chairs informed on specific work assignments.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Credentials

Relevant experience may substitute for the required education.

 

  • Associate of Arts degree in court, public or business administration, or a related field

 

AND

 

  • Four (4) years of administrative program support experience.

 

THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

  • Ability to independently coordinate projects with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of organization/operation of the Washington State court system; procedures and practices followed within the judicial branch.

  • Ability to conduct internet research on race equity issues.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental and court officials at all levels, justice stakeholders, and community members.

  • Ability to learn and use new computer applications as needed.

  • Knowledge of website navigation, searches and content updating functions.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail in the delivery of work products.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Professionalism in dealing with courts, judicial partners, staff, management and the public.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Sets priorities and effectively manages time to meet deadlines and work schedules.

  • Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.

  • Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions, recommendations, and options.

  • Ability to gain and utilize knowledge of internal and external protocols.
