Position Overview:
As an Associate Attorney, you will embody our core values by consistently demonstrating reliability, integrity, honesty, and a commitment to ethical behavior while being a consummate team player. This is a full-time in-person position in our SeaTac office where you will work with 8-10 paralegals and legal assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
Review cases in areas like asylum, Withholding of Removal, CAT (Convention Against Torture), non-deportability waivers, VAWA, T visas, U visas, and family-based immigration. Conduct diligent case analysis and research.
Have expertise in appeals procedures, filing petitions for review, cert petitions, understanding standards of review and preservation of issues for appeal in the 9th Circuit Court.
Prepare clients for hearings and/or interviews in various immigration matters, including affirmative asylum applications, adjustment of status interviews, master calendar hearings, and appearances in other institutional settings. Attend all respective appointments to zealously represent and defend the client's best interests.
Perform Research and Writing: Prepare timely responses to RFEs; stay updated on immigration and humanitarian laws and regulations; conduct legal research; and draft all necessary legal documents to support client cases including motions, legal briefs, and expert reports to provide comprehensive and persuasive guidance.
Engage Critical Thinking and Take Initiative: Apply critical thinking to tackle complex immigration issues, identify creative solutions for clients, and proactively address potential legal problems. Demonstrate self-motivation in managing your caseload and pursuing ongoing development to enhance client services. Independently seek resources and tools to overcome hurdles for clients. Qualifications:
Valid license any State Bar
Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years of immigration and humanitarian focused practice
Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, policies, and procedures
Exceptional critical thinking, detail-oriented, organized, creativity and an ability to maintain caseloads and deadlines
